There’s still time!!

There’s still time to fulfill your new year resolution!(16 days!!)

I have fulfilled mine! What about you?

I made only one new year resolution this year. It was to read 12 books this year! As of today, I read 13! 😀

I used to read a lot when I was a kid. I used to go to the library every Saturday after school (gymnastic practice)  and I read 4 books a week but this stopped when I started Secondary school as I had to concentrate on getting good grades!!  I didn’t read much but textbooks. 😦  I also spent lots of time at band practice. Then the internet was invented and I just spent lots of time online and didn’t read much!!

The best book I have read this year is The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

A father and his young son walk alone through burned America, heading slowly for the coast. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. They have nothing but a pistol to defend themselves against the men who stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food–and each other. (From

I got it free on World Book Night. When I read the blurb at the back, I knew I would like it immediately – it is set in the post apocalyptic times. I like stories like that!

I read The Road when I was on holiday in Florence. It was very exciting and it was so hard to put the book down! I read the last chapter at the airport in Florence. Our flight was delayed so I was able to finish it. It was really sad and I was crying at the airport.

I have also just realised it was made into a movie in 2009. I am definitely going to watch it!

Anyway, have you fulfilled your 2012 New Year Resolution yet?

Wow!!! Good job!! I usually do a book a month too but it has been a very slow year for me. Thought I would be able to finish Storm of Swords by the end of the year but now seems unlikely.

Never read The Road but watched the movie based on the book starring Viggo Mortinssen. You should check it out!!

  3. Hello Purejade!! I am going to watch the movie. I think it will make me cry a lot! I was going to try reading the Game of Throne books but I gave up on the first page! I might give it a go again next year! Oh I just bought Adrian Mole From Minor to Major (the first 3 diaries)! I can’t wait to read it again! 🙂

  4. Hi Melissa! Well done to you too! It might be 14 for me this year! It depends if I can finish it before the 31st of Dec! 😀
